RUAWAI SCHOOL FIRE.
RESIDENTS' PLiUCKY FIGHT. The Auckland Education Board decided to apply to the Department for a grant this morning to rebVuld the manual training department at Ruawai School, Northern Wairoa, which was recently destroyed by fire, and to thank the residents who saved the main buildings. *
A report by the architect left the' cause of the fire a mystery, and stated that the residents who quickly answered the teacher's urgent call for help, although they were wearing their good suits, set to work with buckets of swampy water, which they had vto pour over themselves, so great was the heat.
