INJURED WOMAN'S PLIGHT. LONG WALK FOll HELL'. To half crawl, half walk for all hour and a half with ail injured back to liar neighbour's house was the gruel lin'* experience of a woman at Faiunine early last evening. She is Mrs. Audrey Selkirk, living at Wharf Road, Pan mure About six o'clock Mrs. Selkirk fell down some steps at her home, suffering injuries to her back. She was alone in the house at the time and lo get attention set out for the home of her nearest neighbour, some distance awav. So painful were her injuries that she took an hour and a half to get there, arriving about half-past seven. A doctor was quickly scut for and the injured woman was later taken to the Auckland Hospital in a St. John ambulance, being admitted about midnight. Her condition to-day, in spite of her unenviable experience, is not serious. PAINFUL ORDEAL. MAN WITH BROKEN LEG. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. An elderly man, Mr. Frederick James Cossey, a farmer, aged about 60, received a fractured leg when kicked by a cow at his property in Harris Street, Pukekolie, this morning. Mr. Cossey was milking a cow in a bail when it kicked out and struck him on the shin. He crawled about half a mile to the house, where he called out for help. Dr. H. Stewart Douglas was sent for, a,nd after attention Mr. Cossey was sent to the Auckland Hospital. STRUCK BY VAN. MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED. Serious head injuries were received by a labourer, Mr. W. B. Thomson, aged 3!), married, of 1, Ptitiki Street, Archhill, when he was struck b, the side of a delivery van as he began to cross Great North Rd., near Burns St., Archhill, last evening. Mr. Thomson had just stepped off the footpath when the van, which was driven by Mr. C. J. Lloyd, of 9, Waitemata Street, Ponsonby, knocked him over. A St. John ambulance took him to the Auckland Hospital with a depressed teture of the skull. His condition to-day is still serious. CAR RUNS AWAY. Running away unoccupied down the steep slope of Alpha Road, Parnell, yesterday afternoon, a motor , car crashed into a telephone box at the corner of Stanley Street. The car, which had been parked in Alpha Street, was not much damaged, and was later driven away. One side of the telephone box was smashed.
