TIMBER INDUSTRY PAY.
DISSATISFACTION FELT. "General dissatisfaction exists in the timber industry at the present time owing to the failure of the employers to follow the example of other employers and restore the cuts, particularly in view of the fact that the price of timber has been increasing," said Mr. IC. J. Plielan, secretary of tlie Auckland Timber Workers' .Union, this morning. Mr. Phelan added that the discontent was particularly noticeable in Auckland. Repeated applications had been made for the restoration of the 10 per cent cut. The failure of the union to accept the terms offered by the employers in the King Country had evidently irritated the city savvmillers, uecause they had offered to restore at least a portion of the cuts, provided the union would accept the terms offered by the employers in the King Countrv. The latter terms were considerably lower than those prevailing in Auckland, and the Auckland workers therefore felt that they were not prepared to sacrifice their fellow workers in the King Country in order to gain any -•"all ' i'-T«v.re.
