PLIGHT OF ETHIOPIA.
ETERNAL FRIENDSHIP PLEDGE An instructive lecture on Ethiopia was given by the Rev. C. J. Bush-King to a large audience at Blockhouse Bay last evening. The lecturer, who is visiting Auckland, dealt with the earliest histoiy of the Ethiopians, the peculiar geophysical nature of the country, its national Christian church, and its varied relations in the past centuries with other nations. The present attack by Italy, he said, wa4 quite contrary to the treaty signed in August, 1928, wherein Italy pledged herself to uphold "eternal friendship" with Ethiopia." "The present plight of the Emperor and people makes a claim upon all the support we can give them," he added.
