WORK AT ELLERSLIE. MONANUI AND* KELLY. BEST TIME OYER SEVEN. Conditions were very wintry before breakfast this morning, heavy rain falling at intervals. However, the weather improved after the breakfast hour, and the sun shone out. The course proper, with the poles 55ft out, was open, and No. 3 grass track was also available, but the going was on the soft side, and was cutting out towards the finish. Several horses were schooled over the hurdles in the centre and also over country. Hope Lass was timed to run the last six furlongs of her work in 1.27. On Parade and Professional, after running their first two furlongs in 28 3-ss, got to the end of five furlongs in 1.10 1-5. They finished on terms. Lord Val and Gay Marigold were allotted a mile, running the distance in 1.49 3-5, the first half mile taking 545. Etcetera strode over seven furlongs in 1.47, being under restraint throughout. Pasha was going easily while traversing five furlongs in 1.13 2-5, and Wee Pat got to the end of seven furlongs in 1.38 4-5. Slie was doing it very easily. Caliente, Senior and Tybalt were associated over a ; mile and a quarter, which occupied 2.25 3-5, the last round taking 2.15 1-5. Caliente and Tybalt were together several lengths in front of Senior, and both worked ple'asingly, though. Caliente had the better of the weights. Express and Teddy Boy, after running their first three furlongs' in 40s, were together at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.24. Enlightenment and Hunting Maid ran home from the half mile post in 55 4-se, the former being a shade in front at the finish. Haut Monde worked very evenly over seven furlongs, which _ he covered in 1.38 3-5. He was doing it nicely at the finish. Heritage, after running his first three furlongs in 39 4-ss, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. He was running on solidly at the end. Hawthorn was timed to run seven furlongs in 1.43 3-5. Solas was just in front of Fleetwind, with Imamint over a length away, at the finish of half a mile in 55 3-ss. Solas shaped well for a novice. Te Broney was allotted useful work, taking 1.44 to cover her last seven furlongs. She could have improved on this effort. After running her first furlong in 14 l-ss, Persian Lady took 1.10 1-5 to complete five. Gay Defence and Tray Bit registered the best six furlongs of the morning, running the distance in 1.23 1-5. The first three furlongs took 39 4-ss, and Gay Defence was about a length in at the finish. Plato was never at top while running six furlongs in 1.24. King Mestor and Tidalia were in front of Vera Acre after running five furlongs in 1.10. Klltowyn Goes Nicely
Kelly was sent seven furlongs, taking 1.38, the last five in 1.10 3-5. .This was the best of the morning over the distance. Valmint was given an easy six..fur which he covered in 1.28 3-5. _ Ruling King had Supreme Ruler to assist him over a mile, which they traversed in 1.07 3-5. Kiltowyn was sent a mile and a quarter and was going nicely at the end after running the distance in 2.20 4-o. The last round took 2.14 2-5 and the final seven lurlongs 1.39 2-5. Green Patch ar.d Catoma traversed a round in 2.20 2-5, tue last seven furlongs taking 1.43 4-5. Green Patch finished several lengths in front and was doing it easily at the end. Gemland ran home from the half-mile post >_n 56 2-5s and Vanners averaged about los to the furlong while traversing five furlongs. Monanui, who looks well, ran seven furlongs in 1.38 3-5. It was a good effort and she was not by any means doing her best. Alantus and Capcila Abbey completed a round in 2.23, .finishing on terms. Armacourt and Jewelled Girdle, after running their first three furlongs in 40 4-ss, completed six in 1.24 4-5. There was not much between them and Jewelled Girdle worked better -than on Saturday. Glenhaupo and Primak were timed to run five furlongs in 1.12, with littlo between them at the finish.
The Jumpers. Wea Pat (T. Williams) cleared a couple of /hurdles in the centre in first-rate style Sir Romeo (T. Williams) was sent over six hurdles, but his display was not as good as usual due to the slippery going. GaScelle (R. E. Thomson) and Zane Grey (G. Carmont) gave a good exhibition over the steeplechase fences, on the flat. Zane Grey was pulled off after jumping the stonewall and Gascelle went pn over the hill. Zane Grey joining him agaiil at the sodwall at the top of tile straight. The pair again negotiated the fences on the flat and gave a tip-top exhibition. Arrivals. The arrivals this morning include Clarion Call, Sunee, Red Sun, Arctic King, Mother Superior, Bantry, Loyveijberg and Monanui. ,
