GOLDEN WEDDING.
At their home in Turangi Road, Grey Lynn, the golden wedding, was celebrated yesterday of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Sparnon. The celebration took the form of a social evening, at which a large number of the members of the family were present. The time was pleasantly passed in dancing and musical items, while Mr. Williams Jeffreys proposed tlie toast to the couple.
Mr. Sparnon was born in 18G0 at Barrow-in-Furness, North Lancashire, and came out to New Zealand by the Rangitiki about 53 years ago. At that time it took 120 days to make the voyage. Tic married Miss Ellen Seliolield, who was born of Tasniauian parents in Onehtinga in lS(i(i. There were six sons and one daughter. Members of the family living include Mrs. A. Herbert of Sydney, and Messrs. Victor, Leslie, Richard, Edward and Albert (twins) Sparnon.
