LAWN TENNIS.
OPENING OF SEASON. VAUXHALL CLUB. Six hard courts and one chip court were oOiciully opened by the Mayor of Devunjjort, Mr. H. F. W. Mcikle, at the Vauxhall Tennis Club's opening on Saturday. Mr. Meikle remarked on the progress made by the club since its inception, and Mrs. Mcikle served the first ball. The attendance was good, over 120 being present. An American tournament was played and was won by A. Blanchfield in the' mcu's divisio'n and by Miss I. Mowbray in the ladies' section. Mr. S. Cleal and Mr. Tearec, representing the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, were present.
DEVONPORX CLUBS.
The official opening ceremonies of the Ngataringa and Cambria Tennis Clubs took place on Saturday afternoon. The Mayor of Devonport, Mr. H. P. W. Meikle, performed the ceremony in each case, commencing with the Cambria Club. A progressive tournament followed during the afternoon.
CAMPBELL PARK CLUB,
The Campbell Park Tennis Club held its opening on Saturday under Ideal conditions. Or. Andrews, the president, welcomed the large gathering of members and friends, and Mrs. Andrews served the first ball of the season.
Mr. 1\ Harrison, president of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, in replying to tlio president, congratulated the club on the very tine appearance of the courts. A progressive tournament was held and was won by Miss B. Bishop and It. Cameron. In the evening a dance was held at St. Oswald's Hall,
