GAOL SENTENCE.
MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE
(Received 9.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Clifford Smiles was sentenced yesterday to 12 years' imprisonment for manslaughter. His wife and daughter were found dead in a gas-filled room in their home at West Footscray on June 14. Smiles was tried previously on a charge of murder, but the jury failed to agree.
