RESTORATION.
GOVERNMENT'S INTENTIONS. LABOUR INTERJECTION". (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", Friday. "Was it clue to tlie restoration of the cuts?" asked Mr. A. S. Richards (Labour, Roskill) when the Minister of Health, Sir Alexander Young, had detailed in the House of Representatives to-day many statistics to prove huw generally had improved in the Dominion. The interjection drew a reply which public servants might regard as hopeful. The Minister denied that restoration of wages was the cause of the improvement, for what had brought about the good result was the Government's policy of reducing costs by bringing down interest on mortgages, overdrafts, etc., and raising the farmer's income on his overseas realisations. He added: "The restoration was very helpful, and we are expecting to be able to restore the cuts to 100 per cent, and go further by carrying out Public Service reclassification which will put it on the best possible basis."
