FAT SHEEP ADVANCE. FAT CATTLE A KEEN SALE. FEILDING PRICES. An advance of about 2/ per head was made on fat sheep at the weekly sale in Feilding yesterday, the entry being of only moderate dimensions, but of firstclass quality. Store sheep, on the other hand, found the market rather slack, although in the case of good pens prices were well maintained. . Fat cattle came forward in heavy supply, a large proportion of prime quality run beef being included. The sales was keen and prime cow beef made to 25/ per 1001b, Shorthorn cows topping the market at £9 18/. In the store pens an entry of about 1000 head of run cattle met with a brisk sale for the most, although prices fluctuated somewhat and on the whole were below rates ruling in other centres. Dairy stock, heifers particularly, were improved of sale, select Jersey heifers making to £8 10/. Values were as under:— Fat Sheep.—Prime fat hoggets, to 23/S, with a few specially prime woolly hoggets at 28/ to 28/10: average prime, 20/1 to 22/; light shorn prime, 18/6 to 19/7; prime heavy woolled ewes, 22/; good lines, 20/4 to 21/; light shorn, IG/3 to 19/; unfinished sorts, from 13/; prime heavy wethers, special peii6, 28/7, 28/9; prime, 25/3 A*. 26/9; fair average, 23/1; light shorn, frora 19/; prime black faces, special pens, 26/ to 27/3; fair, 10/4 to 21/6.
Store Sheep.—Wether hoggets, good condition, to 23/4; light sorts, 11/9 to 16/2; ewe hoggets, very good quality, 26/2 to 26/10; fair, to 25/3: other lines, from 15/2; two-tooth ewes, 26/10; ewes with lambs, 25/6; empty ewes, 10/6.
Fat Cattle. —Prime heavy Jersey cows, £7 10/; light Jersey cows, £4 15/ to £5 10/; inferior quality, from £2 5/; prime heavy Shorthorn cows. £9 18/; Shorthorn heifers, to £5; Polled Angus cows, very prime, heavy, £9 15/; other good linos Polled Angus cows, £6 17/6, £7 10/ to £7 17/6; light, £5 10/; prime Polled Angus heifers, to £7; Jersey heifers, £3 15/ te £4 2/6;. Hereford heifers, light, £3 5/; mixed colours, bullocks, £5 10/ to £6 3/6; runners, £2 19/.
Dairy Cattle.—These declined by 10/ a head except for special pens, which sold well. Very srood quality springing heifers, £6 5/ to £8 10/; good pens heifers, £4 ]0/ to £6; backward calving dates, £2 5/ to £3 15/; heifers in milk. £2 5/ to £4; springing cows, £2 5/ to £4 according to calving dates. Store Cattle.—Shorthorn heifers, £3 5/; Hereford two-year steers, £4 16/; Hereford heifers, £5 6/ to £5 8/; two-year I Hereford cross steers, £4 17/ to £5 11/; I Polled Angus lines, yearling heifers, £2 17/6; empty cows, to £2 10/; three-year steers, £6 5/; run cows, £4 19/; twoyear steers, £5 5/; Hereford bullocks, £5 7/6 to £5 14/; forward store cows, Jersey lines, £2 6/ to £3 13/; boners. 19/ to 38/; yearling heifers, 18/ to £2 10/; ' le '^ ers ' two-year heifers, Pigs.—There was a quiet sale for pigs at the mart, prices being below last week.
