"SOUND SCHEME."
EXAMPLE OF OTHERS.
N.Z. COMES INTO LINE. MR. W. GOODFELLOW'S VIEWS. Group marketing, said Mr. William Goodfellow, managing director of Amalgamated Dairies, Limited, commenting on the board's new policy, had been adopted many years ago by all the other important supplying countries to the British market, both Empire and foreign, other than Canada. New Zealand, therefore, was the last country to come into line, and probably this was due to its isolation and the lack of information regarding the progress being made in competing countries. As far as he could ascertain from the published statement, it appeared to him to be a thoroughly sound scheme for the more efficient marketing of New Zealand dairy produce. Personally, he did not think it was possible efficiently to market any standardised commodity in any given market if unrestricted f.o.b. selling were to be permitted to break down consignment prices. However, this was one of the problems the groups would have to study and bo guided by their experience.
