DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
BARDEIiL-PICKWICK TRIAL. There was an attendance of close 01: 200 persons at the Fabian rooms last night when the Auckland Dickens Fellowship held its annual parade of characters taken from Dickens' works. The president, Mr. T. Clarkson, presided. The programme, which was organised by ills. Kenneth Gordon and Mrs. M. Free, ineludi* the reproduction of the famous Bardell v. P. ; "kwick breach of promise trial from "Pickwick Papers," presented by the following cast: Justice Stareleigh, Mr. George Cruickshank; Sergeant Buztuz, ilr. J. E. Green; Sergeant Snubbin, the Rev. C. E. Perkins; Mr. Skimpin, Mr. H. C. Robinson; Mr. Pickwick. Mr. B. B. Hooper: Sam Weller, Mr. T. Vivian; Mr. Winkle, Mr. G. Iv. Fowler; foreman of jury, Mr. ,T. W. Kealy; usher, Mr. A. E. Grinrod; Dodsou and Fogg, Messrs. Preston Chambers and W. King; Mr. Perker, Mr. T. Clarkson; Mrs. Bardell, Mrs. M. Free; ills. Cluppins, ilrs. il. C. iletherell; Mrs. Sanders, ills. L. J. Morris; chemist. Mr. G. R. Turner; Tonv Weller, Mr. Tulloch. About 40 characters were represented in the costume parade and the prizes allocated by the judge. Mr. Henry J. Hayward. were as follow: Men's prize. Mr. B B. Hooper as Pickwick; women's. Miss Nellie Lavers as Miss Havisham in "Great Expectations"; juveniles, Margaret Lornie as Master Bardell. During the evening songs were contributed by Mr. Mortoii Smith and a duet, "What are the Wild Waves Saying," by ilts. E. Cable and Mr. H. E. Jones.
