A FRIENDLY TOURNEY.

By courtesy of the Maungakiekle Golf Club tlie members of tlie Vacuum Oil Company conducled their annual golf competition on the One Tree llill course last week-end. Sixteen players participated. At the close of play Mr. E. A. Sevier, until recently New Zealand manager for the company, presented the cup. and the opportunity was taken to farewell him on his imminent departure for Melbourne on promotion to the managing director's staff. The leading scores for 3'! holes on medal play on handicap were: R. <i. Thomson (9), 148; C. J,. Hewson (IS), 1T.0; 11. R. Hume (12>. W2: S. N. Baigent (10). 152: Is. A. Diddle (16), lot!; G. Hartshorn (11), 100.

BRITISH WOMEN.

SYDNEY, September 10. Tlio Krilish women solfcrs to day without difficulty won both the foursome matches against Now South Wales, and also were successful in four of the five singles. Results:— Foursomes. —.Mrs. Greenlees and Miss Anderson beat Mrs. McKay and Miss Ebert, 7 and <J; Mrs. Walker and Miss Barton heat Mcsdamcs Robinson and Clements, S and 'J. Singles.—Mrs. Walker beat Mrs. Robinson. (! and '<: Miss Barton beat. Miss Ebert. and 4 : Miss Anderson beat Sirs. Clements, 4 and Mrs. Greenlees beat Mrs. Ynille, I up: Mrs. McKay beat Miss Wade (Britain). 1 up. The local players displayed lack of confidence and were continually in trouble. On the oilier hand, the British women seemed to be at Hie top of their form.
