N.Z. CHALLENGE SHIELD. WELLINGTON CONFIDENT. KEEN CONTEST EXPECTED. To-morrow the Auckland representative team will play Wellington in the Until Challenge Shield match of the season. The visitors will iieid a strong eleven, and an exceptionally keen struggle is expccted. E. G. McLeod, who captained the New Zealand team in the three Tests against the Indians, will appear in the same role with the Wellington team, whilst another member well known to Auckland followers of the game will be U. Moore, who made his last appearance here as goalkeeper in tlie Test at Eden Park. Several other well known . players axe included in the side, which .should give a good account of itself. ... Tlio team-arrives early on Saturday morning, and two prominent officials of the Wellington Association —Mr. Bollard, the chairman, and Mr. Falconer, honorary secretary—will be travelling with them. Mr. Bollard is acting as manager. The Auckland team has continued the training methods 'adopted earlier in the season, and all the players should be lit and well. Houghton will replace Floyd in the forward line, otherwise the team is the same as ■ that engaged in the two previous Shield • -matches. This change should add more thrust to Auckland's already strong attack, whilst the backs have shown 'decided improvement in the last few matches. The teams arc:■ — Auckland .(Blue and White). Wellington (Black and Gold). Goal: Moore. Full-backs: Perrin, Hull. Halves: llowe, McLeod, McArtlnir. Forwards: Watchman, Whcatlcy, Ferguson, Brown, Browne. Reserve: Burnett.
Umpires: Messrs. A. Williams and 11, Smith.
PAPATOETOE V. WARKWORTH
At Papatoetoe a special match will bo staged between the local seniors and a team from Warkworth. Other junior games will be played as notified in last night's "Auckland Star."
TAIHAPE V. KING COUNTRY,
Representative hockey teams of men and ladies from Tauinnrunui visited Tailiape on Thursday. Results:— Men.—Tailiape 4 (goals by T\. Robinson 2. W. Robinson 1, F. U. Bray 1) beat King Country 3 (goals by Kelly 2, Onlbransen 1). Ladies.—King Country 3, heat Tailiape O. Miss I.ithgow fchot three goals for the winners.
