TRACK GALLOPS.
TE AWAMUTU TRIALS. YESTERDAY'S WORK. Heavy rain which began to fall early yesterday morning, and continued throughout training operations, made the track heavy and conditions unpleasant at Te Awamutu. In spite of this much useful work was accomplished. The course proper, next to the rails, was available for the final gallops of Avondale candidates, and outside the flags, which were 30ft out, for all others. The 'honours of the morning went to Gallio and Knight of Australia, who were responsible for very pleasing efforts. Next the Rails. Galilee was the first to work on this track, and in company with Flitacre placed four furlongs behind in 52 2-ss. She could have improved upon the time. The Avondale Cup candidate of Australia was sent away from thp mile barrier, and with the aesistawce of Karohia over the last half, he completed his task nicely in 1.46 2-5. Musquil and Tonnerre were together at the conclusion of four furlongs in 525. Tonnerre was doing the better of the pair. Gallio was hitting out very boldly over four furlongs, ' which he completed in 50s, this being by far the best half mile of the morning. Jonathan and Namakia were together at the conclusion of three furlongs, which occupied 38 3-ss. On the Outside. Time was not the mission of Tuaheahe or Fast Acre, who were worked separately over four furlongs. Fast Acre has come in from his spell looking well. Solomon was too good for Spearwin over four furlongs in 555. Spcai-win was stopping badly at the end. Torch was allotted three furlongs, which he completed in 39 2-ss. Kahapa had a slight advantage over Lady Ruler at the end of a smartly run half-mile, taking 52 3-ss. Stretto, who leaves for Avondale in company with Tonnerre and Musquil to-day, was not
galloped, but did very useful pace work on the inside grass track. Others to work on the inside grass track were Callisto, Cylarros, Salesman, Astarth and Loombination.
