WARNING TO LICENSEES

PROHIBITED PERSON'S CASE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) j WAIHI, Thursday, j The seriousness, from the licensee's standpoint, of permitting a prohibited person on licensed premises, was emphasised by Mr. F. H. Levicn, S.M., at tho Waihi Police Court yesterday. The evidence showed that the prohibited person concerned owed the licensee nil account and that recently the licensee was standing at the front door of the hotel when the man passed. The licensee asked him if he could settle his account and the man agreed. To do this he entered the hotel, but did not have any liquor. Mr. Levicn said he did not like to convict in tho circumstances, and pointed out that a conviction might have farreaching effects in respect to the licensee's position. The prosecution, he said, would be a warning. 1 The case was dismissed.
