SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

The Royal Oak Hall was a scene of much gaiety recently, when Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Taplin. of Banff Avenue. Epsom, entertained SO guests to celebrate the coming-of-age of their son Jack. Mrs. Taplin wore a frock of blue floral georgette. Songs were rendered by Mrs. McGahan, Mrs. Shackelton, and Miss Ruby Maher. Prizes were won by Miss Ronson and Mr. T. Maher (Monte Carlo) and Miss J. A larse bridge afternoon was held in George Court and Sons' reception rooms on Wednesday. Tho Richmond Rovers Football Club held another of its enjoyable five hundred card tournaments 011 Wednesday evening at the Grey Lynn Bowling Club's pavilion, when there was a good attendance of members and supporters. Prizes were won by Mrs. Davidson and Mrs. Bavastra, Mr. P. Brady and Dr. A. Reavey. The combined prize was won by Mrs. Irvine, the hidden numbers by Mrs. Irvine and Mrs. J. Johnson and tlio consolation by Mrs. Waney and Mr. X. F. Davis. Among those present were: Mesdames P. Brady, Webster. Swift, Reavev, Davidson, Davis. Ellis, Harrison. Palmer. Donald, Dick.
