FIRST ANNUAL BALL.

PIHA LIFE-SAVING CLUB,

The Peter Pan Cabaret was gay with posters representing the activities of the Pilia Surf Life-Saving Club last evening when the club held its first annual ball. This was the first surf live-saving club ball to be held in Auck-land,-and an appropriate seaside atmosphere was lent by the large clumps of flax placed at intervals round the ballroom. Silhouettes of surfmen with reels decorated the walls, and the supper tables were gay with arum lilies, ranunculi and freesias. The guests were received by a member of the executive committee. Mr. F. Gittos, assisted by Mrs. Gittos, who wore a frock of 111 idnight blue ripple silk with touches of cherry velvet and a coatee of silver lame.

Variety was added tot the programme by the presentation of a ballet performed by the Regal Six and the Spotlight Revue Company, and a tap duo by "Monty and Carlo." Members of the ladies' committee present were: Mrs. N. W. Yites, who wore lime green embossed velvet; Mrs. .J. 11. H. Wood, in lemon floral crepe de chine; Miss Nora Snelling, shell pink windswept satin; Miss Muriel Adams, cherry crepe de chine; Miss Irene Forde, leaf green moss crepe and silver sequins; Miss Eunice Hardie, cream Chantilly lace over satin; Miss Sybil Stewart, black ring velvet with turquoise sasli; Miss Bobbie Marriner, mauve moire silk and silver sequins; Miss Loris Chilwell, autumn-tinted striped taffeta; Miss Flora Chilwell, midnight blue patterned chiffon; Miss Ola Rudman, olive green taffeta.
