TEMPERANCE WORK.
CONVENTION PROCEEDINGS. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. At the afternoon meeting of the twelfth annual Auckland District Convention of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, which was continued yesterday, reports of the various branches were submitted. Mrs. Hugh lvaspar, president, presided. The balance-sheet, which was read by the treasurer, Mrs. G. W. Clark, disclosed a small credit balance. A resolution dealing with the treatment of men charged with offences against children was passed. The resolution asked that flogging, in such cases, should not be done away with, but that treatment by qualified doctors should also be given. The election of officers resulted as follows; —President, Mrs. nugli Kaspei ; vice-president. Miss L. Read; recording secretary, Mrs. J. Williams; correspondence secretary, Mrs. J. Carr; treasurer, Mrs. Lewis.
