CAR AND VAN IN SMASH
ELECTION CANDIDATE HURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WANGANUI, this day. Mr E. H. Whiteman, a farmer, of j Kakatahi, who had announced himself as an Independent candidate for the Rangitikei seat, while driving his motor car early this morning, was involved in a collision with a newspaper van in Victoria Avenue. Mr. Whiteman received numerous cuts, but after treatment at hospital was able to go home. Mr. O. Wallace, a member of the "Wanganui Chronicle" staff, who was in Mr. Whiteman's car, was badly cut about the forehead and fa"c and lost a considerable quantity of blood.
