WEEK OPENS QUIETLY. BUYERS HESITANT. A fresh week on the Auckland Stock Exchange opened quietly, and only a small amount of business was recorded at the first call. There was little zest in the bidding and many blanks on the buying side of the quotation list. Government stocks were an exception. They were in keen demand, and with a fair amount of offeringj early business may be looked for. « Farmers' Auctioneering shares were in pood request, and the £5 shares, .paid to £2, changed hands at £1 7/6, a rise of 3/6 eince July. The ordinivies were quoted between £4 and £4 7/6. Buyers came in for insurances, but at lower levels. New Zealands were asked for at £3 3/ and South British at £4 13/9, with sellers at £3 5/6 and £4 14/6 respectively. Banks were steady at about late rates. The Noon Call. This morning's quiet tone was again apparent at the noon call. Little business was done, while there were few changes in quotations. The tone of the market generally was quiet. The banking section was steady, buyers for Commercials moving up Id, to 16/7, while sellers conceded the same figure, at 16/10. SALES COMPLETED.
