BUDGET DATE.

NEXT TUESDAY WEEK? short election campaign. POLL LATE IN NOVEMBER. (By Telegraph.— Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. N Present indications arc that this session of Parliament will not be unduly prolonged. Already there are indications that tho Address-in-Reply debate is lagging, and it is expected that it will not be continued far into next week. 11l that event the Government will Iks ready to submit to the House a number of measures giving effect to the proposals outlined in the Speech from the Throne. In addition, the Commercial Trust Amendment Hill, introduced last session, will reappear. The main business of the session is tho presentation of the Budget and the accompanying Estimates. It is now fairly certain that the Minister of Finance, Mr. Coates, will present the Budget on Tuesday, September 17. There was a possibility that the financial debate would begin late next week, hut Mr. Coates indicated this afternoon that the earliest date convenient would be Tuesday week. When the House begins the financial debate it will enter oil the only business of real importance, and when the-debate is ended it will remain only for the various classes of Estimates to be disposed of. In some circles it is anticipated that one month will he sufficient for the disposal of all tho remaining business. If #o, it seems reasonable to anticipate that members will not bo asked to remain in Wellington much longer than the end of October. They all have an eve on their constituencies and are anxious to get 011 the hustings. As far as can be ascertained at present, thero will be little in formulating plans for the election. Thero is a general desire for a short campaign and it is practically certain that the election will be held towards the end of November at the latest.
