TRADE AGREEMENTS.
NTR. SAVAGE'S PROPOSAL.
PRACTICAL DIFFICULTIES. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Criticising Labour's guaranteed price policy, the Hon. A. D. McLeod (Government, Wairarapa) in the House to-night stated that the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Savage, had said that trade could be controlled with other countries by agreements. New Zealand was trading with 40 countries. Did Mr. Savage think agreements could bo made by telephone-in a few minutes? The Minister of Finance had left hurriedly and it had taken him two months to make an agreement in England that was of tremendous value.
If the Leader of the Opposition were called upon to make the suggested agreements, said Mr. McLeod, he would not bo long in New Zealand, even if he were Prime Minister.
