WELLINGTON, this day.

Last month was the sunniest August Wellington has experienced since sunshine records were commenced in 1907. The total of bright sunshine recorded was 203.9 hours, as against the average for August of 139.S hours. The previous most sunny August, was in 1923, when 150.7 hours were recorded. On the whole the month has been more like spring than winter.
