A bride and bridegroom who were leaving Nelson about 11 o'clock hist night, after a fashionable wedding which had taken place in the cathedral earlier in the evening, were involved in a motoring accident which might have had more eerious consequencct;. The couple were Mr. William Alexander Linncy-Barber, of Melbourne, and Miss Del St. John, one of Nelson's most popular society girls and a leading tennis player. Mr. and Mrs. Linney-Barber left the home of the bride after the wedding breakfast and were driving up Waimea Road, when a cyclist with no light appeared on the crest of the hill in the centre of the road. The car swerved in an endeavour to avoid the cyclist and swung across to the wrong eidc of the road and struck the power pole with a loud crash. The pole was bent and the wires were broken, causing lights in the immediate vicinity to fail. Nurses on night duty at the Mental Hospital heard the crash and went to the assistance of the ocpupants of the car, who were suffering from shock. The bride had one eye badly bruised and a tooth knocked out.

Mr. and Mrs. Linney-Barber are to sail by tlio Wanganella from Wellington on Saturday for their future home in Melbourne.
