Mr. and Mrs. Linney-Barber left the home of the bride after the wedding breakfast and were driving up Waimea Road, when a cyclist with no light appeared on the crest of the hill in the centre of the road. The car swerved in an endeavour to avoid the cyclist and swung across to the wrong eidc of the road and struck the power pole with a loud crash.
