RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUSTRALIAN BISLEY. (By SPOTTER.) The 75th anniversary prize meeting of the National Rifle Association of Xew South Wales will be held on the Anzae Kangc, Liverpool, near Sydney, from October 12 to 19, inclusive. The Xew South Wales rifle meeting is the largest in the British Empire, with the single exception of the Bisley meeting, and has a direct appeal to over 45,000 riflemen in the Commonwealth. The total jnize money amounts to £0094, representing an increase of nearly .t! 1000 on last years prize list. Provision is made for all grades of shots, the prizes being liberal in all classes, with a lengthy list for each. It may be of interest to New Zealand marksmen to know the method of shooting for the King's. It is shot in three stages, each stage constituting a match with a prize list. The first stage being fired at 300 yards. 500 yards and 000 yards, seven shots at each distance. Second stage, 000 vards and 700 yards, ten shots at each. Third stage. 000 yards, 800 yards and 000 ranis, ten shots at each distance, a total of 71 shots being fired for the King's. There is no final as in New Zealand, where all competitors fire 00 shots and the 40 highest scorers fire another 10 shots each, making a total of KM) shots for the King's Prize. Some of tho principal prizes are the King's £100, second prize £50. third £25. There is a total of .'578 prizes in the King's aggregate, the lowest prize being 30/. Another important aggregate is the Longneld, which is composed of six individual matches. There are 312 prizes, the first being £50. second £25. third £15, and graduated down to 30/, this being the lowest individual prize. A special 75th anniversary Australasian teams' match has been arranged over .'SOO yards, 000 yards. 700 yards and 000 yards. This carries a gold medal to the captain and each member of the winning team, and £75, second £50. third £25. There is no entrance fee for this match. A pairs' match, for which the sum of £30 is offered, is also included in the programme, and is, for teams of two men. not necessarily members of the same club. Tlie executive lias spared no pains to make the competitors comfortable (hiring their stay, and in this connection camping, canteen and dining arrangements are provided at very reasonable rates. For several years past a number of Xew Zealand marksmen have crossed the Tasman to take part in this meeting and have always given a good account of themselves. T understand Xew Zealand will again lie represented, and to any who are fond of the sport and can make the trip, they will receive a right royal welcome from the Aussies.
