POINT CHEVALIER CLUB. 20TH ANNUAL MEETING. The 20th annual meeting of members of the Point Chevalier Sailing Club was held last evening in trie clubhouse, Joan Street, Mr. M. J. Coyle (president) presiding over a good attendance of members, including a number of ladies. The report presented by the honorary secretary, Mr. T. Kollinson, stated that the membership totalled 20S, a substantial increase lor the year. The financial position of the club had never been better. The social, amusement, stall and general committees worked hard in their particular sphere and all were successful in adding to tlie club's funds. The sum of £ 100 had been spent upon Ihe clubhouse, which included the cost of a new ceiling, the work being done voluntary under the supervision of Mr. R. A. Thorpe, honorary architect. The prize distribution was held nt Dixieland and proved an outstanding success, about 700 members and friends attending. During the season 22 races were held, for which 11)0 entries were received and 02 prizes given. The club had been successful in inter-club events, Mr. A. Willetts' Jewel winning Mrs. Clare's trophy, and the club's crew the naval whalers' race against nine other representatives. They also competed in the Trevic Shield contest and for the McKinnon Cup. Their thanks were due to donors of trophies and to the commodore. Mr. W. G. Whitten, their patron, Mr. Ernest Davis, and president, Mr. M. .1. Coyle, who had assisted in making the past season the best in the history of the club. The report and balance-sheet were adopted on the chairman's motion, Messrs. Whitten, I'aull, J. deal and others congratulating all concerned on the success of their efforts. The following officers were elected for the coming season: —Patron, Mr. Ernest Davis; vice-patrons, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Schmidt, Captain 11. H. Sergeant and Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P.; president, Mr. M. .1. Coyle; vicepresidents,- as last year: commodore, Mr. W. G. Whitten; vice-commodore, Mr. G. McKeown ; rear-commodore, Mr. J. Cleal; lion, secretary, Mr. T. Kollinson; assistant, Mr. E. Osholdstone ; clubhouse captain, Mr. T. Kellett; lion, auditors, Messrs. Fred Dyson and T. Courtenay; lion, architect, Mr. R. A. Thorpe; lion, solicitor, Mr. E. C. Jordan: handicapper, Mr. G. McKeown; delegates to Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association, Messrs. .1. Cleal and R. A. Thorpe: judge, Mr. H. E. Buckley; slarters and timekeepers, Messrs. J. White and H. lfroadliead: recorder, Mr. T. Kollinson; lion, chaplain, Kev. Jasper Calder; committee, Messrs. W. Kidgwav, W. G. Clancy, .1. Sanders. J. Dryland, G. Bell, J. Milne. 11. E. Buckley, A. Willetts, T. Jenings, W. A. Jenkin, P. W. Shearer and C. Kinross. Mr. Whitten, when returning thanks for his re-election as commodore, said that during the past season all had worked most harmoniously for the good of the club. They had extended the racing programme and he proposed to make it more popular by giving cash prizes. Mr. Whitten appealed for the continued support of the various committees, and again thanked the ladies for their assistance. Mr. M. .1. Coyle also returned thanks for his re-election as president, which was his ltjth year of office. He commended the work of the officers' and the ladies, and said that It was a record to pay off part of the clubhouse mortgage. make the Improvements to the clubhouse and still have a balance on the right side. The quest ion of the club fostering a new class of boat on which the only restriction would be a limit of 00 square feet of sail was brought up by Mr. R, A. Thorpe. It was decided to recommend the new committee to favourably consider the class. Mr. C. I'aull offered a trophy for which skippers or club boats would sail the club's model yachts. Mr. .T. Cleal wa's unanimously elected an honorary life member and suitably acknowledged the honour.
