SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
Mrs. Ivan Sulpan, chairman of the women's committee of the Auckland Rugby League, was hostess at a luncheon party given in honour of Mrs. W. F. Bennett, of Dunedin. The table was bright with Iceland poppies and was so situated as to obtain a fine view of Auckland and the harbour. Members present included: Mesdames F. Thompson, A. Ferguson, R. Doble, J. Stonex, A. Scott, J. W. Probcrt, J. J. Simmonds, F. Chermside, L, Biims and Mrs. L. O. Houghton, secretary of the women's committee. - » . ".-'•■■ m . • \ The Holy Trinity ladies? guild held its annual daffodil afternoon in the Holy Trinity Parish Hall, Otahuhu, on Saturday afternoon. The attendance was very good and a'brisk trade was done at the stalls. Pleasing items were rendered during the afternoon by the pupils of Miss G. Moore. Those in charge of the stalls were: Sweets, Mrs. M. Jarvis and. Mrs. J. Coulter; flowers, Mrs. Vickers and Miss M. Tucker; cakes, Mrs. Mathews, Mrs. H.
