The Arc de Triomphc, situated ot the west end of the Champs Elysees, in Paris, is the most magnificent, as we! 1 as the most expensive, monumental aveh ever erected. It was commenced in 1806 by Napoleon I. and was act finished til] 1836, after the accession of Louis Philippe. It is said t.r. have cost nearly £400,000.
