CIVIC RECEPTION.
AUSTRALIA'S PRIME MINISTER ARRIVAL ON FRIDAY. The Prime Minister of Australia, the Eight Hon. J. A. Lyons, will arrive in Auckland by the Mariposa from San Francisco on Friday morning. He is on. his way home after attending the King's Jubilee celebrations in England. He was a passenger by the Niagara from Vancouver, but owing to a mishep to that vessel soon after leaving Canada necessitating her return to port he went overland to San Francisco and joined the Matson liner. A civic reception will be tendered Mr. Lyons in the council chamber of the Town Hall at noon. The speakers will be the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. R. Masters, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage.
After the ceremony there ■will be a State welcome, which will take the form of a luncheon at the Grand Hotel. This will be attended by a number of prominent citizens. In the evening a reception will be given by Mr. and Mrs. Lyons at Milne and Choyce's reception hall. This is being arranged by Mr. R. H. Nesbit, Australian Trade Commissioner for New Zealand.
