AUCKLAND ALL BLACKS.

RUGBY UNION'S FAREWELL,,

Auckland members of the 1 All Blacks and the manager, Mr. V. li. Meredith, will be entertained by the Auckland Rugby Union this evening at a dinner at Hotel Cargon. The Auckland members of the team are: H. M. Brown (Otahuhu), T. H. C. Caughcy (University). 1). Solomon (Ponsonby)", M. M. N. Corner (Grammar), W. 'K. Hadlev (Marist). If. F. McLean (Grafton) and C. S. Pepper (Manukau).

H. M. Brown, who left for New Plymouth to visit his home last Saturday, returned this morning for the dinner. M. M. N. Corner will not attend, on the advice of the doctors, who arc treating his knee. The Grammar Club was to have had a dinner 011 Monday night in Corner's honour, but the functio'n has now been postponed until next Saturday.

A dinner was given bv the Smith and Caughcy Sports Club at the Albert Hotel on Thursday evening to farewell and wish good luck to Messrs. Caughcy and McLean, the two members of the firm who have gained places in the team. Speeches were madje by Messrs. T. E. Gooding. H. Frost (representing the Rugby Union). ,T. M. C'aughev, J. A Finlayson, R. Richmond, S. L. Barry, T. IT. C. Caughcy and 11. F. McLean. * Mr. R. Lord, president of the club, presented to each of the guests of honour an engraved cigarette case. Humorous items were given by Messrs. H. Burton, S. B. Finlayson and W. Alexander. After dinner the gathering adjourned for entertainment in the club's rooms.
