WHANGAREI NOTES.
The Misses Lacey have returned from a holiday spent in New Plymouth. Mrs. R- J. Dunn is spending a lort,light in Auckland. Mrs Jim Mason, T>ent Street, left yesterday for Auckland, having received news of the serious illness of her brother, Mr. C. Belton. Miss L. Broughton has returned from Dargaville, where she acted in the Northern Wairoa federation drama festival of the Women's Institute. The initial monthly meeting of the League of Mothers, recently formed in Wliangarei, was held 011 Thursday afternoon, "and its success augurs well for the future of the organisation. The chair was occupied by the president, Mrs. J. lnkstcr, who extended a welcome to members. Dr. S. H. Ward provided a feast of information, which he "arnislied with humour, in an address 011 "First Aid in the Home." For this he was warmly tlianked. Songs were sung by Mesdames Blanshard and Fry, the accompaniments being played by Mrs. Mervyn Wilson. Afternoon tea, which was made the occasion for social chat, was dispensed by Mesdames W. Jones, P. J. O'Hara and D. Ross.
