WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
TITIRANGI. The July meeting was held at the residence of Mrs. Pearson, School Road, over 40 members attending. The title of motto for shield was won by Mrs. W. A. Bishop and the competition for biscuits by Mrs. A. W. Macandrew. The main programme was provided by the younger people, a competition and charade being much enjoyed. The latter was written by Miss Ansell and the characters taken by the Misses Bishop, Barr, Eva and Hilda Boyes and Lilley. A brisk business was done at the bring and buy table, in aid of the building fund. * ELLERSLIE. The monthly meeting of the Ellerslie Institute was held at the Masonic Hail, Mrs. Budin presiding. Mrs. Mclsaacs contributed a beautiful picture in stitchery, to be displayed at the forthcoming exhibition. The scone competition was won by Mrs. Greenwood, with Mrs. Baxter second. Points for vases of flowers went to Mrs. Kite. An address on Maori legends was given by Mrs. Harold King, who also sang Maori songs, the pianist being Mrs. McKiniion. MANGAWEKA. The July meeting of the Mangawej<a Women's Institute was well attended. Two new members, late of Kakahi Institute, were welcomed. Miss A. Gardner was chosen to represent Mangawcka at the Dunedin conference. Two songs, sung by Mrs. F. Billinghurst, were much enjoyed. Mrs. Farley demonstrated making willow baskets. Hostesses were Mesdames Billinghurst (2), Weymouth, and Watson. A competition for plain white scones was won by Miss M. Gardner, and one for the prettiest knitted' jumper was won by Mrs. Weymouth. I
