OBITUARY.

MRS. AGNES CARRAN. At tlie age of 84 years Mrs. Agnes Car ran, one of the early pioneers of the Warkworth district, died this morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. A. Martin, East Tamaki. Mrs. Carran was born in Auckland, her mother, Mrs. Agnes Mahoney (nee Craig), having been one of the Jane Gifford's passengers to Auckland in 1842. Mrs. Carran was married to Mr. Daniel Carran, of Warkworth, and went to reside on her husband's farm at Streamlands, then known as Dome Valley. On the death of Mr. Carran, in 1019, Mrs. Carran came to Auckland. 'She saw the township of Warkworth grow from its infancy. Slitwas a fine stamip of a liardy pioneer woman, and up till her last illness declared that she had never had a day's illness in her life. In addition to lier knowledge of farming. Mrs. Carran took a keen interest in horticulture and was a well-known competitor at the Warkworth annual flower shows. Mrs. Carran was a relative of the late Mr. J. J. Craig and a sister of Mr. D. Mahoney, of Parnell—New Zealand's pioneer parachutist, who, years ago. under his flying name of Captain Lorraine, made the tragic descent on November 3, 1899, into the sea outside the entrance to Lyttelton Harbour while making an ascent from Lancaster Park. Cliristchurch. Mrs. Carran is survived by the following children: Messrs. D. J. Carran (Streamlands), A. S. Carran (Warkworth), Mesdames A. Martin, C. Pepper and E. Mason (Maungaturoto). MRS. ETHEL MAY TOTICH. Advice has been received in Auckland ! of the sudden (Jeath yesterday morning at Dargaville of Mrs. Ethel May Totich. wife of Mr. John M. Totich, New Zealand Consul for the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Mrs. Totich was born in Auckland 45 years a;ro, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Fry, Ponsonby. Married in 1914, Mrs. Totich went to live in Darsraville, and took an active interest in her husband's work as Consul, and thus endeared herself to the Yugoslav people who have settled in the Dominion. Mrs.. Totich was also a most active member of the Sacrcd Heart Catholic Church. PETER JOHN MAIRS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) FOXTON, Friday. The death occurred yesterday of Peter John Mairs, a former well-known minister of the Primitive Methodist Church prior to the amalgamation, who was stationed in Taranaki, Waikato, Denniston and Manawatu districts. He was aged 71 years. MR. ROBERT DANIEL KELLY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. The death is reported of Mr. Robert Daniel Kelly, who was at one time chief postmaster in Wellington and Auckland. MR. R. M. GORDON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The death occured suddenly of Mr. R. M. Gordon, formerly of the Eastern Extension Cable Company.
