QUARRY FATALITY.
FINDING AT INQUEST.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, this day. A finding that death was accidental, the immediate cause of death being internal hemorrhage of tho lungs, was returned by Mr. 0. A. Empson, coroner, at the inquest into the death ot George Maekay, a quarry worker, who was , crushed to death between a rake of metal trucks and the quarry crusher ' building at Te Kawa on July 10. The coroner commented on the small space only six inches) between tho walls of the crusher and the walls of the trucks, whereas the Coal Mines Act required loin. He thought provision 1 should be made for a similar distance j i for quarries. It had not been proved ! that deceased was required to ride on the brake of the loaded truck, but it I seemed probable that he did eo, thus * imperilling liii life.
