MRS. MARGARET T. HARRISON.

The death of Mrs. Margaret Turnbuil Harrison; wife of Captain H. S. Harrison, of Westmere,- after a long period of illnesej took place on July 5. Mrs. Harrison came to New Zealand in 1919 with her husband, whom she married at Home after he had completed his war service. They took up residence at Stanley Point, where they bought a picturesque property on the banks of the harbour, and Mrs. Harrison, who was a keen yachtswoman, had the Margurette built, a very fine yacht, on which she entertained Lord Jellicoe when he was Governor-General of the Dominion. She did much good during the war years in Scotland, where*she was born, and was an authority on butter and cheesemaking, having got a diploma for her knowledge of manufacturing dairy produce and in domestic science. By giving her views through the columns of the newspapers, she did what she could to try and standardise the dairy produce exported to the Old Country, and in this respect had several interviews with Lord Bledisloe, who approved of many of the views she held, just at the time when ill-health overtook her she had in view the establishment of a model dairy farm in the North, and had interested dairy experts in the project. A keen business woman, she built and established the Auckland Laundry, at Grey Lynn, and for some years took an active part in its management. She also had many other interests of a progressive nature. Latterly, with her husband, she, had been living at Grey Lynn, and for over a year had put up a good fight against a serious illness", writing and expressing her views on subjects in which she took the keenest interest. Highly respected for her broad outlook on life, her masterful personality will be much missed by her former employees and associates. In keeping with her advanced views, she was cremated at Waikumete on Sunday.
