OBITUARY.
MR. JOSEPH KRIVAN.
The death occurred at Palmerston North of Mr. Joseph Krivan, who was born in Bohemia 97 years ago. He fought in the Franco-Prussian War, and in 1874 sailed from Hamburg for New. Zealand. The family settled at Palmerston North when there were only three houses on the fringe of the bush. Mr. Krivan was a road contractor for the Government and afterwards farmed at Fitzherbert East, retiring 45 years ago. He is survived by two sons and four daughters.
