NEW R.S.A. BRANCH.
HAURAKI PLAINS SUGGESTION. . (From Our Own Correspondent,) PAEROA, Sunday. The Paeroa and Hauraki Plains branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association, which increased its membership from 45 to 110 last year, enrolled 25 more members as the result of holding a. reunion at Kerepeehi in- order that the president, Mr. E. Edwards, could report on the decisions o£ the recent conference in Wellington. ' The announcement of the new enrolments prompted the' suggestion that a Hauraki Plains branch, or a sub-branch of the Paeroa and Hauraki Plains branch, he formed. If this eventuated a big increase in membership was assured, for many soldier settlers found it difficult to attend meetings in Paeroa. The interest of Hauraki Plains members was all with the land, and while their affaire had always received close attention by the executive in Paeroa, the work would be easier and more expeditiously handled by An executive ;of Hauraki ■ Plains men. The formation, of a sub-branch was supported by,'the president as being worthy 'of consideration, and jt . was decided that the executive investigate the matter. There was no friction with the Thames . branch,; -due to pirating of members, said-the president in reply to a suggestion. The whole of Hauraki Plains, except Turua. Kopuarahi andOrongo, north of Piako Koad, was in the Paeroa-Hauraki area. 1 • The reunion was hundred odd. es/eojdiere.
