HARES AND HOUNDS.
HUNTSMEN AT PAENGAROA. (By TelegTaph.—Own CorrcspomJont.) TE PUKE, Saturday. Fifty riders took part in a run which was held by the Te Puke ward of the Kotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club at Paengaroa. A number of riders came, from Opotiki, while Mr. D. Clark, deputymaeter, came from Rotorua, together with three other visitors. The weather was dry but cold. The hunt commenced on Messrs. Collins and Vorcoe's farms, proceeded through the properties of Messrs. Waldron and Levis. There a -hare was put up, but it doubled back over Mr. Waldron's land and w/as "lost in a gully. A lengthy run of six miles took place over Messrs. Levis' and Matthews' farms, back to the Rotorua Road. A number of riders were unable to take part in this run, being' blocked by a deep ravine. . ; . .■' A further run took place from the top of Mr. Matthews' land down the river. A hare was put up but eluded the hounds, so a return was made. across country to the residence of the deputy-master, Mr. Innes Vercoe, where afternoon tea was dispensed. Owing, to the hunt taking place, some distance from the road spectators in cars were unable to witness a great deal of the run.
