THE CLASSIC CLUB.
The Classic Club's eixtti meeting of thia season took place on Tuesday evening, when the following performers took part: Miss Thora Davidson, who sang "Pastorale* , (Veracini), "Flower Song (Gounod), and three French songs, "Elegie," "Le saie-tu?" "Ouvre tes yeux bleus" (Massenet); Miss Mavis Beadle sang "Hark, , Hark. the Lark," "Gretchen at the Spinning-wheel," "Impatience (Schubert) and "Lullaby," "Children s Pleasures" (Mozart). Mies Kay Ch.nstie contributed two operatic arias, "Connais tu le pays" (Thomas), "II segreto pe'er esser" (Donizetti), and "My Heart Has a Quiet Sadnese" (Sargeant), "Pledged" (Arnold), and "O That It Were So" (Bridge). Mr. John Ford's numbers included "Little Brown Bee (Old French), "Sweet Peace Descending (Piozzi), and "Luce van le Stelle" and "Che gelida Manina" by Puccini. Mr. Arthur Thompson sang "Tell Me Not, Sweet," "Weep You No More" (Keel), "Is She Not Passing Fair" (Elgar), "How Deep the Slumbers of the Floods" (Loewe), and Mr. Thompson's rendering of "Edward," also by Loewe, was of particular interest to members. Pianoforte solos, ."Romance in F Sharp," "Kreisleriana 5," "Novellette in E" (Schumann) were rendered by Mrs. Sholto-Smith, and "Ballade" (Brahms), and "Study No. 9" (Chopin), by Mrs. Robert Wilson. The accompanists for the evening 'were Mrs. Maud Lysaght and Dr. S. K. Phillips.
