WHITE HORSE TROPHY.
LADIES' PROVINCIAL CUP,
( The Country Week hockey tournament conducted annually by the Auckland and Ladies' Hockey Associations, commenced yesterday afternoon at Remuera in distressing conditions.
The White Horse Cup, at present held bv the Rodney A team, is the principal trophy in the men's competition. The runners-up receive the Captain White Cup, won jointly last year by Whangarei and Waipa. The trophies in the ladies' cornpetition are the Auckland Provincial Cup and the Twiname Cup. at present held by Paeroft and Whangarei respectively. The first round of each competition was decided yesterday, and the second round of the men's contest in sunny weather this morning, although the fields still heavy. This afternoon's programijl comprised the men's third round and the second round of the ladies' competition. Results: — White Horse Cup. SECTION A. First Round. —Walpn 9 (A. Spiers 2, B Spiers 3, Gibson 2, I'ass 2), beat Franklin 0: Rodney A 0 (I; Grimmer 3, J. Grimmer Matthews, Jones), bent Whangarei A 2 (Bint, Madden): Cambridge, a bye. Second Round.—Whangarei A 0 (P. Bint 5, K. Carter), beat Franklin 0; Waipa 3 (IJ. Spiers 2, Mollison), beat Cambridge 0Rodney, a bye. SECTION B. First Round. —I'iako 4 (Cricket 2, King Stevens), beat King Country 2 (Logan 2); Rodney B 8 (Carran 4, Wyatt 2, Sharp, Cruiekshank), beat Whangarei B 1 (Patterson) ; Tliames-Hauraki, a bye. \ Second Round.—Rodney B 2 (Phillips, Carran), beat Tliames-Hauraki 1 (H. Candy) : King Country 3 (Logan 2, Ravnor), beat Whangarei B 2 tJ. Mulr, \V. Orinby) ; Piako, a bye. Provincial Cup. SECTION A. First Round.—Northern Wairoa 4 (Misses Tremain 2, Itandall, IJanks), beat Whangarei B 0, Auckland A 2 (Miss Lowe 2j, beat Paeroa 1 (Miss Clatworthy). SECTION B. First Round. —King Country 10 (Mrs. Gauier G, Misses Grylls 3, Leoni), beat Waikato 0 ; Rodney 0 (Misses Jones 3, Dunning 2, Gubb), beat Auckland B 1 (Miss Waters); i'iako, a bye. SECTION C. First Round.—Hauraki Plains 3 (Misses Jesser 2, Beaver 1), beat Auckland Collegiate 2 (Misses Langridge, Eraser) ; Waipa 2 (Miss Spiers 2), drew with Whangarei A 2 (Misses Tibbets, Hurtsil).
