.. i « N.Z. TRADE COMMISSIONER. MR. G. W. CLI3STKARD APPOINTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The secretary of the Department of [industries and Commerce and general manager of the Tourist and Publicity Department, Mr. G. W. Clinkard, has been appointed Triule and Tourist Commissioner for New Zealand in Europe, with headquarters at Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Clinkard's present duties will be taken over by Mr. lie J. Sefynitt, at present New Zealand-Trade and Tourist Commissioner in Australia;'who will be succeeded there by Mr. . W. Taylor, assistant accountant to the Treasury, Wellington.„ .
Mr. ft. W. Clinkard is a son of Mr. C. H. Clinkard. M.P. He was born in Auckland in 1803. and entered the Public Service in 1009. He resigned in 1014 to become assistant' secretary to the New Zealand Employers' Federation, but after war service re-crttered. the Public Service as a member of the Census and Statistics Office. In 1920 Jie became associated with the Board of Trade. He was appointed secretary to the Administration of Western Samoa- in 1929, and returned in 1930 to take- up the position of Secretary to the Department of Industries and Commerce, and general manager of the Tourist and Publicity Department. Mr. L. J. Schmitt has been New Zealand Trade and Tourist • Commissioner in Australia since 1930. :.
