Mr. N. A. Duthie left for Wellington by the Limited last night. Mr. H. J. Lichtenstein leaves for Sydney by the' Mariposa' to-morrow. Mr. T. U. Wells left by the Limited last night to attend a meeting of the council of Massey Agricultural College. Mr.. W. Duncan has resigned from the eomniHtee of the New Zealand Football Association, and has been succeeded by Mr. J. M. Oilier. Mr. I. J. Goldstine, Mayor of One Tree Hill, left for Wellington by the Limited last night, and expects ■, to return on Saturday. Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of Williamson Picture Corporation (ISr.Z.), Ltd., and Mrs. Smith are at the Grand Hotel. The Revs. G. Budd, J. A. Thomson and I. E. Bertram left by car yesterday for Wellington, where they will attend the funeral of the late Eev. W. Mawson. Captain C. C. Waters, of the Union Steam Ship Company, leaves for Wellington by the Limited to-night to resume duty after his holiday leave. Mr.' E. Casey, assistant general manager of railways, and Mr. P. B. Angus; locomotive superintendent, who have been visiting Auckland on Departmental business, left for Wellington by the Limited last night. The Eev. F. B. Barton, convener of the foreign missions committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand, loft by the Limited last night to attend the funeral of the late Eev. W. Mawson, foreign missions secretary, at Wellington. Mr. A. E. Thickett, of the .Ist Field Company, New Zealand Engineers, an old boy of Auckland Grammar School, has been accepted by the Army Council for a cadetship at the Eoyal -Military Academy, Woolwich, and will sail from Auckland next month. He is a son of Mr. J. H. Thickett, of Papakura.
