TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") . ; CHRISTCHURCH, this day. • The protracted week-end break had a ; .dampening effect on Exchange business, with the result tha£ only a few sales were .recorded at this morning's call. More .buying interest was taken in Union Bank, j offers for> which increased to £9 without response from holders. Quotations for ,nearly all brewery issues were made, the most interesting being for New Zealand, • which recorded a drop of 3d, the market closing between £2 13/10 and £2 14/3. The miscellaneous section was quiet, Tobacco having the only business at a sharp reduction. Further sellers offered at £1 18/4, but the best buyer stayed at £1 17/10. Unsupported buyers "for Drug v shares were firm at £4*2/. Mining was ?'• fairly dull, Mount Lyell providing the ~ most interest, with two.parcels changing hands at £1.
