PLAY COUNTY CHAMPIONS. SPRINGBOKS . OUT FOR 268. BOOTH IN WICKETS AGAIN. LONDON, June 1. The South African cricketers to-day began a match against Lancashire at Manchester. The visitors on a_ hard-baked wicket found the fast deliveries of Booth (who took eleven for 8P against Sussex last week) difficult. Mitchell reappeared after a month's absence through knee trouble, but he batted in uninspiring- fashion.. Nourse and Siedle were very slow. Lancashire was weakened by the absence through injuries of several of its leading players. The South Africans in their first innings scored 268 runs, and when stumps were drawn the county had lost three wickets for 33. Scores: — SOUTH AFRICA.—First Innings.
