STREET ACCIDENTS.
PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS
(British Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, May 30.
•In replying to a question in the House of Commons the Minister of Transport, Mr. L. Hore-Beljsha, expressed the opinion that the new pedestrian crossings had contributed to the reduction in street accidents in greater London. The number of pedestrians killed in March and April was 17.0 per cent less than in the corresponding months of 1934, before the crossings were established. Special observations at the crossings on the four main roads out of London had disclosed a reduction in the number of pedestrians killed or injured of not less than 44 per cent.
