SHIPLOVERS' SOCIETY.
A history of the whaling industry from the earliest times to the present day was given by Mr. K. A. Falla, ornithologist at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, in an address at the monthly meeting of the Shiplovers' Society, held in the main hail of the Flying Angel Missions to Seamen last evening. The harbourmaster, Captain H. H. Sergeant, presided. After dwindling into insignificance, said Mr. Falla, the whaling industry had been revived by the Norwegians a few year.i ago, with the help of a Government subsidy, and the output of the Antarctic factory ships was enormous. Following the address, Lieutenant-Com-mander T. Lean, R.N., ied the singing of sea chanties, and supper was served by the ladies of the Harbour Lighte Guild.
