MAORI PLAYERS.
CO-OPERATION OF UNIONS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. With the object of establishing a closer union between Maori and European Rugby players, a conference was held yesterday between members of the New Zealand 'Union and representatives of the native districts. It was decided that a member of the Maori race should be added to the management committee of each union and sub-union carrying a large Maori population, or a reasonable number of Maori players. All matches confined to Maori players will be under the jurisdiction of the unions concerned except the Prince of Wales Cup. which will be controlled by the New Zealand Union. Four Maori selectors, one from each Maori district, will be appointed to select their teams from the nominations of the official selectors. It was decided that the North v. South Maori trial match at Hamilton (on May 22) would be a trial game for the Maori team touring Australia til's year. - The annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union will be held to-night.
