BANKS EASE SLIGHTLY. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Business continues uctive, and a fair volume of sales was recorded at this morning's call. Fewer buyers came in for banking scrip, and sellers tended to lower their limits in one or two instances. Bank of New Zealand, for example, after reported business at a penny less than last sales, were on offer at £2 11/4, without buyers. Reserve Banks, which yesterday afternoon were quoted stronger than ever before, had buyers down to £6 12/6 again, and sellers 1/ higher. New Zealand Breweries slipped fractionally, the market closing from £2 14/10 to £2 14/11. Australian Glass looked (inner on selling limits of £3 1/. Broken Hill followed yesterday's rise in Sydney, the market showing strength from £2 12/6 to £2 13/0. Mining sales were notable for the activity in Mount Morgans, which gained 3d in the first business for six weeks. Closing quotations were from £1 17/4 to £1 17/7. Lawson's Flat looked stronger, and Maori Gully maintained their recent high rates. Wailiis were a shade easier, the market standing from £2 2/6 to £2 3/3.
