ACCLIMATISATION.

FRANKLIN CLUB'S YEAR. LIBERATION* OF PHEASANTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, tins day. The report of the Franklin Acclimatisation Club at Pukekohe, presented at the annual meeting-, stated that financial members totalled 32, enabling- the club still to have two delegates to the Auckland Society. The total licenses eold in Franklin last year numbered 179. Forty pheasants had recently been received from the Auckland Society and 10 had been liberated in each of Waiuku. Pukekoho, Tuakau and Mercer districts.

The suitability of several streams for trout fishing , was mentioned by Mr. N. M. Bradanovich, who referred to the Maungatawhiri, Mangatangi and Hunua streams. He suggested that the Auckland Acclimatisation Society should be asked if anything could be done to improve the fishing there. To his knowledge no fry had been liberated in the streams for .some years.

The secretary, Mr. I!. S. Naylor, said he had been told by the society's chief ranger that the streams were not suitable, as they flooded and the trout were washed into the swamps and did not live. The streams had been recently straightened and widened, however, and conditions would probably have im-

proved. U was decided to draw the attention of the Auckland Society to the matter. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. A. C. Potter; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. O'Hara (Pukekohe), J. Crawford (Waiuku). L. fjordon (Mercer) and L. L. Logan (Tuakau); secretary and treasurer, Mr. Naylor;" committee, Messrs. L. Tt. Jordan (Pukekohe), N. M. Bradanovich (Pukekohe), S. Coegrove (Waiuku). T. Perry (Paerata), A. V. Wright (Tuakau), '.T. Hanfling (Waiuku) and C. Wilkinson (Mercer); auditor, Mr. C. 0. Hoscoe.
